Between Frieze and the London Film Festival, the city is buzzing this week. I’m loving how everyone is putting their best foot forward on the red carpet – how fab did Sophie Okonedo look in her gorgeous yellow Prada for the Clarissa premiere? I cannot wait to see that film. Meanwhile, we’ve just revealed our November issue – even when you’ve spent weeks poring over layouts, it’s always such a thrill to hold a physical copy in your hands, especially when it features a first-time cover star, like Lola Young.

First-time Vogue cover star, Lola Young

It was my colleague Kerry McDermott, British Vogue’s digital director, who introduced me to Lola Young back in 2024, when her breakout hit “Messy” was virtually inescapable. My Spidey senses were immediately activated: she had something special, a raw-nerve vulnerability, emotional grit, attitude! It’s no surprise that Lola has been compared to Adele and Amy Winehouse – she’s the real deal. Stylist Harry Lambert pulled out all the stops with the fashion for the shoot, and you could see Lola’s eyes lighting up! I especially adore the cover look: she was so obsessed with the Saint Laurent coat, and fully brought her fashion game face to set.

Grace and Anna at the V&A

Grace Coddington’s new book, Grace Now, is a literal feast for the eyes – one I’m super excited to have on the coffee table in my office. I remember watching The September Issue just weeks before I started at American Vogue and being totally taken with Grace. She was – she very much still is – a force. So it was a real treat to see her in conversation with my boss Anna Wintour last week at the V&A. So many great stories! My colleague Alice Newbold writes about it brilliantly here.

I managed to steal a lovely moment with my dear friend, the designer Joseph Altuzarra , earlier this week while he was in town with his new collection. The show got rave reviews, and the clothes look even better in person. In a season of skirts, his gorgeous cotton and silk circle skirts really stand out – especially when paired with his fantastic barn coats. The ’50s movie poster prints are so fab, too! He doesn’t have a shop in London just yet, but I’m hoping that his latest visit might encourage him to open one…
