Excitement around this edition of London Fashion Week has been bubbling in our offices for a while now. It's the first edition under the leadership of new BFC CEO Laura Weir, who has implemented a series of bold, action-first measures to breathe new life into the biannual showcase. (Read all about them in Julia Hobbs's fantastic profile in our September issue – grab a copy while it's still on magazine stands!)
The seeds of optimism sown came into bloom yesterday on London Fashion Week's opening night. eBay's "endless runway" – complete with a shoppable livestream hosted by Amelia Dimoldenberg – was an apt reminder of the importance (and fun!) of shopping pre-loved, while H&M staged a spectacle of blockbuster proportions, featuring just about all the hottest rising fashion talent you could muster – Alex Consani! Angelina Kendall! Alva Claire! Paloma Elsesser! Romeo Beckham! – closed out by a rousing performance from Lola Young. The afterparty queue, still snaking around the entirety of 180 Strand when I left, was a testament to the electric energy in the air. When it comes to fashion week, London is back. Get ready for a bold week ahead.
